As the weather cools and the days grow shorter, people across the nation are gearing up for a month of family gatherings, delicious meals, and festive gift giving. With all the holiday cheer going around, it’s almost easy to forget that with Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Hanukkah come the yearly rituals of consumer spending. Indeed, Americans spent a record $600 billion during last year’s holiday season. This year, we’re all hoping to do more than snag a good deal – instead, we want to give back and invest in something that does good for people around the world.

That’s why we are excited to announce Global Heritage Fund’s participation in Giving Tuesday this year. Giving Tuesday began in 2012 to create a socially conscious alternative to the consumerism of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Since its inception three years ago, charitable receipts for thousands of nonprofits have risen from $10 million per year to over $50 million. Giving Tuesday is a fantastic opportunity to maximize your charitable giving and make your money work for good. Whether you donate $5 or $500, your gift will be invaluable in the continuing fight for community empowerment through heritage preservation.

We ask that you support us by donating on our Giving Tuesday page on December 1st, the day of #GivingTuesday. Donating on this day will be especially helpful, as our partner Classy is waiving all processing fees on the day of Giving Tuesday. That means every penny you give is going directly to supporting community development and heritage preservation worldwide!

We’re focusing on funding our brand new programs, the Cultural Emergency Program and AMAL in Heritage. Dedicated to stemming the tide of cultural loss around the world, these programs provide immediate emergency support, in-depth training, and useful tools for community development and sustainable heritage preservation worldwide.

With your support, we can build a world #BeyondMonuments. Keep an eye out for our announcements throughout the week, and don’t forget to save December 1st on your calendars!
