Current Projects
Ur, Iraq
All environmental and culturally sensitive resources and their current conditions are being documented, and an up to date topographic map is to be prepared. In addition to comprehensive site documentation, the creation of an informed and scientifically grounded Master Plan to guide the site’s long-term conservation and management will enable sustainability and can serve as a model for other sites’ stewardship. These efforts are being conducted by Iraqi archaeologists, conservators and engineers, with guidance provided by GHF expertise as needed. It is expected that this phase will be completed in 2012 and will provide the necessary data to inform the structural conservation that is the focus of Phase 2 of the project.
