On April 25th and June 6th, the Savile Club in London hummed with tales from the world’s edges as first the BBC’s travel expert Simon Calder and then Tony Wheeler, co-founder of Lonely Planet and Global Heritage Fund Trustee, took the stage to speak about global travel and the place of heritage preservation within it.

Thanks to Global Heritage Fund trustees Evelthon Vassiliou and Russell Platt, a full house on each occasion was treated to the unique perspectives that each speaker brought to bear on the need to engage with the tourism industry and encourage cultural leadership and responsibility within it. Thanks go to Lindblad Expeditions for their sponsorship, with the announcement of their commitment to supporting GHF, and Lonely Planet for their offer to donate 30% of online sales revenues using the code “GHF30”.

Meanwhile, Tony Wheeler has appeared on Reddit’s “Ask Me Anything” panel to speak about Global Heritage Fund, and further promoted Global Heritage Fund’s cause in the Financial Times.

Global Heritage Fund is committed to working with the best leaders in the travel sector to tip the balance in favor of preservation as well as promotion, and we applaud those who are joining us as first movers.
