Ciudad Perdida, Colombia
A “Lost City” of Unique Architectural Form
Suspension bridge built over the Buritaca river by FIAAT and Fundacion Puentes de la Esperanza, funded by the Conservation Landscapes Program, Fondo Patrimonio Natural-USAID.
GHF community development efforts in the area focus on trail signage to Ciudad Perdida and training and capacity building for guides, basic infrastructure improvements, and basic health and education improvements for both indigenous and local peasant communities.

These activities were developed in partnership with the Tayrona Foundation for Archaeological and Environmental Research-FIAAT with funding from the USAID-Fondo Patrimonio Natural Conservation Landscapes Program.

In addition, a grant from CitiFoundation was obtained for developing a curriculum centered on natural and cultural Heritage Protection and rural micro-entrepreneurship for the El Mamey School. This is the school serving all indigenous and peasant children in the region and is located in the trailhead town of El Mamey, where all visitors to Ciudad Perdida begin their trip.
