One structure in need of sustainable preservation techniques to reverse previous inappropriate methods.
Many of the extant structures at Ur require urgent conservation measures. Most notably, the Ziggurat requires general maintenance of the staircase, stabilization of the external walls of the ziggurat, a solution to protect the remnants of the 3rd (uppermost) level of the Ziggurat and maintenance of all the areas that are affected by humidity, salt and eroding agents. Additionaly the Royal Palace needs maintenance throughout and Temple walls need stabilization and conservation. Finally, a number of residential, funerary and temple structures all require conservation due to environmental effects.
