Ciudad Perdida, Colombia

A “Lost City” of Unique Architectural Form

Ciudad Perdida is in need of a comprehensive Site Management Plan for its future protection.

To realize the long-term success of the project and its goals, GHF is working in partnership with the following organizations and bodies:

Government

Colombian Ministry of Culture
Colombian Ministry of Culture

Colombian Institute of Anthropology and History (ICANH)
Colombian Institute of Anthropology and History (ICANH)

The Colombian Institute for Anthropology and History-ICANH, is GHFs main partner in the project and receives support for improving site planning, management and conservation. Founded in 1938 as the National Archaeological Service, ICANH is the State institution that oversees anthropological and archaeological research throughout Colombia and is charged with protecting Colombian archaeological heritage. As the current administrator of Teyuna-Ciudad Perdida archaeological park and with many decades of research and heritage administration experience in Colombia, ICANHs presence in parks such as Teyuna-Ciudad Perdida has ensured the long term preservation of the country’s archaeological heritage. ICANHs active participation in the design and implementation of the Management Plan, as well as its local know how and expertise are crucial factors for the success of the project. In addition, this also guarantees that the site will continue to be protected beyond the scope of this project.
