Planning
- The MOU between GHF and the UEM at Huamachuco was signed in November of 2011, which officially initiated the conservation and community development project at the Marcahuamachuco site.
- Alejandra Figueroa, MA, was hired as Project Director for Marcahuamachuco.

Conservation Science
- A preliminary assessment of site condition (mapping and previous interventions) was conducted.
- GHF experts John Hurd and Julio Vargas visited the site to examine and assess conservation needs.

Community Development
- The project was officially presented to the Huamachuco community in November of 2011, as well as to Ministry of Culture officials in Lima and Trujillo, and is being supported by stakeholders at all levels.

Partnerships
- GHF formed a partnership with Patronato Cultural de Peru (PCP), an organization formed by a group of Peruvian business leaders to support cultural heritage preservation in the country.
