Today we celebrate the end of Women’s History Month with an update from the women who lead Global Heritage Fund on what to expect from the organization in 2021 and beyond.

With 2020 in the rearview mirror, we don’t want to forget what we lived through and the lessons we learned from the year’s struggles. For us, the primary lesson is this: each of us must step up to meet the challenges of our times—not just with words but with actions, not just focused on ourselves, but on others, too.

Our whole souls are in our work at Global Heritage Fund. We know our challenges will continue into the future, and overcoming them will require us to dig deep into the source of our greatest successes. Local communities have always been our most-cherished partners, and our projects have succeeded because of their commitment and spirit of innovation. Together with our partners around the world, we will embark upon bolder and quicker actions, committing more resources to protecting heritage, uplifting communities, and contributing to a more sustainable and equitable world.

Global Heritage Fund was made for this moment. We are ready for it.

Women play an integral role in Global Heritage Fund’s work across the globe.

We invest in cultural heritage to transform individual communities, but our real results come from scaling those efforts with other diverse, resilient groups. We recognize the importance of supporting grassroots, women-led projects like those we launched in China, Morocco, India, Turkey, and Colombia, and we are committed to highlighting how the roles of initiatives like these contribute to our own success as an organization.

A conservation project may employ people directly, but the collective impact of investing in women entrepreneurs who bring heritage sites to life has made a difference in their communities. Over the next five years, we plan to double that impact.

Throughout the year, we will share updates with you about our new initiatives and the intentions behind them—the “why” of our work and the “how” of our path to impact and scale. 2021 is an opportunity to move beyond the tragedies of the prior year toward a fairer, juster world. Let’s build it together.
