Mirador Archaeological and Wildlife Preserve is a proposed 525,100 acre protected area located in the heart of the Maya Biosphere in northern Guatemala. Mirador is home to the earliest and largest Preclassic Maya archeological sites in Mesoamerica, including the largest pyramid in the world- La Danta. Experts describe the Mirador as the Cradle of Maya Civilization.
GHF is working with the Guatemalan government, community leaders, the Foundation for Anthropological Research and Environmental Studies (FARES) and the U.S. Department of the Interior, to create an economically sustainable park based on the successful model of nearby Tikal National Park. more> |

Iraq Heritage Conservation Program |

GHF is working with the Oriental Institute (OI) of the University of Chicago and the Iraq State Board of Antiquities and History (SBAH) to develop a state-of-the-art GIS database and
Master Conservation Plans (MCPs) for endangered archaeological sites in Iraq.
GHF is providing critical expertise, training, technology and applications, a structured Master Conservation Planning methodology and site conservation science to help save many of Iraq’s most important and endangered archaeological and world heritage sites.

Global Heritage Fund (GHF) is raising funds over five (5) years in critically needed funding for emergency conservation, training and responsible development of Cyrene, an endangered UNESCO World Heritage site in Eastern Libya. Cyrene is considered one of, if not the most, important Classic Greek sites outside of Greece, second only to Leptis Magna. Its temples, tombs, agora, gymnasium and theatre were originally modeled on those at Delphi. Yet today, Cyrene is one of the most neglected and endangered UNESCO World Heritage sites in the Mediterranean. more>

The Indus Heritage Centre
The Indus Heritage Centre tells the story of India’s most ancient societies beginning with the origin of its first cities during the Indus Civilization and continuing through the legacy of these cities in later periods and modern India.
The Indus Heritage Centre showcases the most important archaeological sites and artifacts of the Indus civilization and related cultures. These sites and objects are the physical manifestation of one of the most fascinating and important stories about human achievement.
This World Cultural Heritage Park will entertain and enlighten 2-3 million visitors a year and take them back through time to experience what life was like for the people who built the great Indus cities of Dholavira, Harappa and Mohenjo-daro, as well as the smaller towns of Lothal, Surkotada and Kalibangan. more> |
