Global Heritage Fund is happy to announce the launch of our new website. The product of our reinvigorated content strategy, the site will serve as a portal into our work in heritage conservation and community development.

We decided to refresh our website because we realized that our old site was not doing what we wanted. The monumental glories of human heritage are stories written in stone or song and lived in the daily experiences of communities around the world. However, when these stories are buried beneath layers of navigation or obscured by reams of text, they go silent and unheard.

So we wanted to change that. Our new site reflects our preeminent emphasis on engaging our viewers on a human level through intimate, person-to-person experiences. Redesigned on the fundamentals of both good design and sound storytelling, the website features:

  • A streamlined design with beautiful pictures from our projects, simplified navigation from page to page, and easy ways to get involved.
  • New programs for cultural emergencies and for heritage in the Middle East and North Africa that will serve as avenues of engagement between our work and our readers. Stay tuned for new developments such as an events calendar and travel opportunities with Global Heritage Fund.
  • Fresh new content from our blog, Heritage Today. A combination of human interest stories, news analysis, and fresh angles on heritage, it will take you into the heart of our projects to show the real impact our work – and your support – makes in the daily lives of people from Banteay Chhmar, Cambodia to Daia, Romania.
  • Revamped news and media pages [coming soon]. With interest in our work rapidly increasing – two of our reports on imperiled heritage and heritage in Asia have accrued citations in thousands of articles and counting – we are expanding our communications outreach to more media platforms, more news outlets, and ultimately, more people.
  • An expansion of our social media presence on all the major platforms: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
  • A new manifesto detailing our commitment to community development through heritage preservation. Feel free to share!

We are confident that our refreshed website will serve admirably as an insight into heritage and its impact on the ever-evolving human story. We encourage you to browse through our pages and get a sense for the many human stories that make our global heritage landscape a world beyond monuments. And if you like what you read, make sure to use our new hashtag, #BeyondMonuments!

We’re moving forward to achieve some big wins for heritage in 2016. Interested in getting involved? We have opportunities for individuals, groups, and organizations to support and participate in our work to empower communities through heritage preservation.
